A Little Bit About Regan: Small Business Website Designer, SEO & Copywriting Specialist

My first introduction to computer programming was in the early 1980s via a Commodore VIC-20 hooked up to an old black and white television screen. I programmed the video game Blue Meanies from Outer Space into the machine by typing out a bunch of BASIC code lines that came with it. The program was then saved on a cassette tape as it wasn’t possible to store it in the VIC-20. For years after that, I would get my mother’s old computers whenever she got a new one. Usually needing repairs, I taught myself how to bring these old machines back to life or keep them running.

In the early 2000s I started to learn html coding thanks to a friend who built me a website and showed me how to make changes to it and update it as needed. Essentially, anything that interested me or saved me money, I learned how to do. Including building, maintaining and upgrading my own desktop PC systems from parts acquired at the computer store.

Jumping ahead to early 2022, I left my hometown of Portland, Oregon and after some traveling settled into a cozy flat in Aberdeen that October. Since then I have worked for two different employers who needed websites built. Both were built on Squarespace completely from scratch (blank pages rather than templates). One was modeled on the existing website for Stork Roofing, which had been built on Wordpress for over £3200. They were also being charged over £325 per month for SEO and maintenance services. The company was able to cancel that monthly contract once I built their new website which now requires almost zero maintenance. It is also a vast improvement over the original website as evidenced by its ranking on page one of Google for several primary keywords.

Most recently I’ve rebuilt my own personal website, this website for my new business and also one for Kate Kingsbury - a retired Portland, Oregon-based author of some 70 publications in total. I cannot recommend her books highly enough - especially if you’re interested in cozy mysteries or romance novels. She is, after all, my mother.

And now, a new chapter begins! It’s time for me to make myself available to any and all who can benefit from my talents and knowledge rather than confining that to a single employer. You’ll find my strong suits are copywriting and SEO/GEO. Not so ironically, they are the things I enjoy the most. You’ll also find I can put together a wonderful website for you. One that looks great, works great and most uniquely - feels great. This, I believe, is the missing link in most websites. Most web designers don’t seem to value how a website makes people feel when they see it, use it, read it or view it. I think that’s a very important factor that is too often overlooked.
